Why we built Vora

Professional networking is broken. Here is what we decided to do about it.

Professional networking is broken and everyone knows it.

LinkedIn is full of recruiters, engagement bait, and profile pages that stopped being updated years ago. Discord servers feel great for a week and then go silent. Facebook Groups age poorly. Slack communities fade out. None of them actually understand who you are, what you want to build, or who you should be building with.

We experienced this ourselves. Dozens of times. The right collaborator was out there somewhere, but finding them meant spending hours scrolling through profiles, sending cold messages into the void, and attending events where you talk to the same five people in the room.

The problem is not that networking is inherently bad. The problem is that every platform treats it as a passive activity. You post a profile. You wait. The algorithm shows you to people it thinks might be interested. That model is twenty years old.

What we wanted to build

We wanted the third place for professional life. Somewhere you go by choice, not obligation — because the right people are there and things are actually happening.

Communities with real structure that feel alive. Events that build ongoing connection, not just fill a room once. Live rooms for conversations that do not need a calendar. And an AI layer that puts the right person in front of you at exactly the right moment.

All in one place, so you are not stitching together LinkedIn for profiles, Discord for community, Luma for events, and Slack for messaging.

The AI piece

The reason AI makes this possible now is not because AI is trendy. It is because understanding someone's intent and trajectory from what they share and how they engage is a genuinely hard problem that earlier technology could not solve.

Personality analysis, vector-based similarity, and behavioural signals let us surface the right people at the right time in a way that no keyword search or mutual-connection algorithm can.

We are not claiming to have solved this perfectly. We are working on it every day. But the early results — the co-founder matches, the collaborations that started in a live room, the communities that formed around a shared goal — tell us we are on the right track.

Who Vora is for

Everyone with ambition. That is not marketing copy. We mean it literally.

We have members who are doctors, developers, designers, startup founders, researchers, community builders, students, and more. What they have in common is not their job. It is that they are actively trying to build something, get somewhere, or find people to do it with.

If that is you, Vora is for you.
